Publications website Austroads' publications website continues to be effective and successful in promoting Austroads publications. Guides Austroads is producing a comprehensive library of guides which cover the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the road network for use by road authorities in Australia and New Zealand. Guides are intended to be a reference for road authorities, and to promote national consistency and harmonisation. They represent an agreed approach to the work road authorities undertake in relation to the road network. Austroads member organisations have agreed to adopt the guides as the basis of their operation. A further six parts of various guides were published during the year, bringing the total number of completed parts to 23.
Technical research 2006-07 was the third year of the Austroads/ARRB technical research agreement, which provides for an ongoing research program in the four key areas of:
- bituminous surfacings
- pavement technology
- asset management
- road safety engineering.
The agreement with ARRB was established to develop and sustain a national capability for technical research and knowledge in each of the key areas, to be available to meet the future requirements of the Australasian road industry.
