Welcome to the Austroads Asset Management home page

The key objective for the Austroads asset management task force is to support efforts by Austroads member agencies in managing road assets at the lowest whole-of-life cost (agency costs and road user costs) as a means of improving effectiveness in the delivery of broad community transport objectives.

The task force aims to do this mainly by:

  • providing direction for Austroads activity in asset management of roads and bridges in Australia and New Zealand
  • providing a framework for research, development and learning in asset management of roads and bridges
  • developing technical reports, guidelines, tools and data to support consistent and effective whole of life evaluation of alternative investment or management strategies for road networks
  • assisting Austroads member agencies, local councils and others responsible for managing road networks to pursue best practice in asset management, by conducting workshops, seminars, etc.
  • providing a focus for liaison between Austroads member agencies and other bodies pursuing improved approaches to road network asset management, such as the World Road Association's committee on management of road infrastructure assets TC 4.1.

The task force consists of representatives from Australian state and territory road agencies, Transit New Zealand, and local government.

This site allows users to obtain the latest information on road network asset management issues, research and other related activities.
