The Austroads CAV program is managed in line with the Austroads Strategic Plan and Operational Plan.

NT1785 Cooperative ITS
SS1867 Assessment of safety benefits of C-ITS and automated vehicles
BN2045 Assessment of key road operator actions to support automated vehicles
BR1982 Investigation of potential registration & licensing issues due to the introduction of automated vehicles

The Austroads CAV program collaborates closely with a number of other programs and initiatives that are lead by other key government and industry stakeholders.

Ministry of Transport New Zealand

  • National transport policy, including New Zealand’s Intelligent Transport Action Plan 2014-2018.  This sets out the NZ government’s approach to enabling testing and deployment of C-ITS and AVs

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA)

  • National land transport regulator. Administers the NZ government’s research program for land transport, which includes project TAR 15/43 ‘Investigation of New Zealand’s technical readiness to support the deployment of automated and connected vehicles’
