Webinar: Pavement Design - Guide to Pavement Technology Parts 2 and 4C
Road Construction
Road Operations
  • Start Date: Friday, 09 March 2018
  • Location: Online, 1pm AEDT
  • Organiser: Austroads

In late 2017 Austroads published updated editions of the Guide to Pavement Technology Parts 2 and 4C.

The new editions present the latest practices and guidelines for the design of road pavements and reflect the implementation of a large number of successful Austroads research projects.

The fourth edition of the Guide to Pavement Technology Part 2: Pavement Structural Design is the most significant update to pavement design processes in a decade.

This webinar will provide an overview of the major changes to the design of heavy-duty flexible pavements, including the new:

  • axle-strain approach central to the mechanistic-empirical design method
  • definitions of design traffic
  • characterisation of cemented material and asphalt.

The potential structural contribution of lime-stabilised subgrades for flexible pavements, and minor updates to concrete pavement jointing details will also be discussed.

Minor updates to Guide to Pavement Technology Part 4C: Materials for Concrete Road Pavements will also be presented.

The webinar will provide you with an overview of the key changes to Parts 2 and 4C,and will be particularly useful for practitioners dealing with the design of heavy-duty flexible pavements and the supply of materials for these pavements.

Join in a live Q&A with our presenter to ask questions about the recent updates to the Guides.

Presented by Michael Moffatt

Dr Michael Moffatt is the National Technical Leader, Pavements at the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB). He has over 25 years of experience in research and development in a wide variety of areas dealing with the design and analysis of pavement structures and the characterisation of pavement materials.

No charge but registration is essential.
