Task force

The freight task force aims to improve road freight operations and integration with other transport modes. The work of the freight task force is undertaken in the context of an increasing freight demand as the Australian and world economies grow, changed Federal/State funding arrangements for road and rail infrastructure development and maintenance, a recognised need for better integration of the road and other transport modes, and changing international standards for freight movement (e.g. container sizes) and heavy vehicle manufacture.

Management of driving hours

Austroads and the National Transport Commission (NTC) have joined forces to assess the feasibility of using electronic systems to manage driving hour requirements in Australia. This work is being performed under the direction of the Australian Transport Council (ATC) - the national council of road and transport Ministers. Further information is available here.
