Other international involvement
Austroads also has agreements with the following organisations:
Transportation Association of Canada (TAC)
TAC is a Canadian association and neutral forum that promotes the provision of safe, efficient, effective and environmentally and financially sustainable transportation services in support of Canada’s social and economic goals, within Canada as a whole, focusing on roadways and their strategic linkages and inter-relationships with other components of the transportation system, and within urban areas, focusing primarily on the movement of people, goods and services and its relationship with land use patterns.
Austroads and TAC have agreed to work together in technical areas of mutual interest, particularly in the areas of transportation planning; road safety; roadway design, operations, construction and maintenance; environmental mitigation and protection; and sustainable transportation.
American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
AASHTO is a non-profit, non-partisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.
Austroads and AASHTO have a partnering agreement to promote collaboration between the two organisations in undertaking their respective tasks.
The two organisations agree to collaborate on the pursuit of their common aims through the exchange of information, consultation and cooperation.
American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA)
AAMVA is a voluntary, nonprofit, educational organisation. It represents the state and provincial officials in the United States and Canada who administer and enforce motor vehicle laws.
AAMVA develops model programs in motor vehicle administration, police traffic services and highway safety, serves as an information clearinghouse for these same disciplines, and acts as the international spokesman for these interests.
AAMVA's programs encourage uniformity and reciprocity among the states and provinces, and liaisons with other levels of government and the private sector. Its program development and research activities provide guidelines for more effective public service.
Austroads and AAMVA collaborate on the pursuit of these common aims through the exchange of information, consultation and cooperation.
