Technology

The purpose of the technology program is to promote best practice in technology through the development and maintenance of the Austroads Guides. In developing each Guide, consideration will be given to Austroads' Strategic Plan objectives including integrated transport planning and operations, improving environmental sustainability, and management of data and information.

Austroads has recognised the importance of maintaining a minimum level of technical research capacity within Australia, across key research areas, so it can be available to meet future requirements of road agencies. Austroads has therefore committed to support research by ARRB Group in four identified areas to retain relevant expertise, both through the retention of existing skilled staff and the recruitment of new staff to develop appropriate skills.

The four identified areas are:

  • bituminous surfacings
  • pavement structures
  • asset management
  • engineering safety.
Objective

To promote improved practice in technology.

Review Panels

There is a technology review panel for the following Austroads Guides to advise on the scope, structure and broad content, and to facilitate development and on-going maintenance of the Guides:

Austroads Guide to Bridge Technology

Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology

Austroads Guide to Project Delivery

Austroads Guide to Project Evaluation

Austroads Guide to Road Design

Austroads Guide to Road Transport Planning
