The process and criteria for countries applying for driver licence recognition is currently under review by Austroads.
The review has been designed to reflect improvements in Australian domestic driver training and assessment arrangements since the Country Recognition scheme was designed some 20 years ago.
Revisions will also make new applications more straightforward with simpler descriptions of criteria, online lodgement arrangements and additional advice for applicant countries.
New applications are not being accepted until the review is complete later in 2024/early 2025.
